LPP confirms the start of construction of a distribution center in Brześć Kujawski

Construction works will last until the end of next year, and the launch of the center is planned for the first quarter of 2022. In the initial phase of operation of the facility, the company plans to employ 500 people. Ultimately, it is planned to create 1,000 jobs.

The construction of the distribution center in Brześć Kujawski is the next step in the development of the LPP logistics network, supporting the company’s business expansion, both in the area of stationary trade and e-commerce. The new facility will enable the diversification of the Gdańsk company’s logistics operations and relieve LPP’s main Distribution Center in Pruszcz Gdański. Thanks to the launch of the new facility, the Polish clothing manufacturer will double the available operational capacity of the supply and distribution network.

The investment located in the Brzeska Economic Zone will be implemented in stages. The land will be handed over to the general contractor by January 15, 2021 at the latest. Construction of the facility, installation of warehouse automation and stocking the center will take about 12 months. The investor plans to launch the distribution center in the first quarter of 2022.

– The construction of the new distribution center is of strategic importance to us, therefore we are glad that after the period of freezing, we can announce the start of implementation of this investment. At the same time, as a responsible company, we attach great importance to the safety and comfort of the communities in which we operate. We are aware that the construction of the center may cause inconvenience to the local residents, but together with the general contractor, we will make every effort to ensure that its course is as inconvenient as possible – comments Sebastian Sołtys, Logistics Director at LPP. – With the support of the Brześć Kujawski commune authorities, we also want to stay in constant contact with the residents. This is especially important to us in the face of a pandemic, when open communication is of great importance for common security – assures Sebastian Sołtys.

The organization of traffic around the investment has been planned so that the transport of construction machinery takes place only on national and provincial roads. Travel routes in the vicinity of nearby homes and public institutions will be kept to a minimum.

As part of counteracting COVID-19, in addition to standard safety procedures, additional protective measures will be introduced at the construction site, in accordance with the current guidelines of sanitary services.

– In recent years, together with LPP, we have managed to implement many joint social and educational projects. We are convinced that with the same commitment with which the company supports the commune and its residents, it will take care of the safe course of works. For our part, we declare our full support and we are glad that despite the difficult situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic, this investment will be implemented for the benefit of LPP and the entire community of our commune – comments the mayor of Brześć Kujawski, Tomasz Chymkowski.

The area of the LPP distribution center in Brześć Kujawski will amount to 75,000 sqm. m2, including 65 thousand. m2 will be occupied by a warehouse, while 10 thousand. m2 – office and technical space. In the building, in addition to automatic systems, solutions will be used to increase energy efficiency and limit the impact of the facility’s operation on the local ecosystem. It is planned to install photovoltaic installations with a total capacity of 1.5 MW on the roof of the building. Approximately 500 people will be employed in the first phase of operation of the centre. Ultimately, up to 1,000 jobs are to be created. Recruitment will start in the third quarter of 2021.
